Grand Isle in the center of the Old Historic Town Center of Strasbourg has beautiful views, old timbered medieval buildings and a great market place for tasting cheese, brioche, meats, wines, and beatiful flowers!  Storks are a symbol of the Alsace Region of France and nest in trees lining the residential areas of Alsace.  You can see these nests in tree after tree, one after another, on roofs and on chimney tops!  They symbolize happiness faithfulness, and good luck, and fertility.  Storks migrate from Africa to winter in the Alsace region.  Strasbourg was first mentioned in 12 BC, and over the past 2,000 years it has been influenced by both French and German cultures as power has passes back and forth from one side of the Rhine River to the other.  It's a beautiful blend of cultures!
